Call for Papers: Technology, Internet, & Policy Panels at the Political Studies Association’s 74th Annual International Conference
Call for Papers: Technology, Internet, & Policy Panels at the Political Studies Association’s 74th Annual International Conference
Date: 25-27 March 2024
Location: University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland
Deadline for abstracts & panel proposals: Monday 4th September 2023
*Please note, unlike prior years, PSA24 will not have a hybrid element, and will be in-person only*
The Technology, Internet, & Policy (TIP) Specialist Group invites you to submit paper abstracts and panel proposals for TIP panels at the Political Studies Association’s 74th Annual International Conference. At the last PSA conference, TIP hosted a successful range of panels, and we’re hoping to see you again for this conference too!
We’re inviting proposals related to the group’s core area, including research relating to data, artificial intelligence, & social media and the associated relationships with society and policy. As with prior years, you’re able to submit your proposal via TIP much earlier than direct individual submissions.
Submission guidance
For papers: Please submit the title of your paper, author(s), institution, email address, and abstract of up to 300 words. We will attempt to formulate panels based on topic areas from the selection of accepted papers via this route. Please let us know if you’re either a postgraduate student or within the ECR Network.
For panel proposals: Please submit a title for your panel along with the titles for each paper, with abstracts of up to 300 words. Abstracts should also be accompanied by an email address and affiliation for each author. You may also wish to select a panel chair. Please let us know if any authors are postgraduate students or within the ECR Network.
Panels should be made up of three to four papers. Please note that TIP takes an inclusive approach to panel formation, and we heavily avoid any all-male or all-white panels wherever possible.
Please send submissions to TIP@psa.ac.uk by Monday 4th September 2023, with the subject line including PSA24.
Process
Specialist groups have a limited number of panels, as such we may not be able to accept all papers. We will let you know if you have been successful by Monday 11th September. This will give you enough time to submit individually to the PSA in their call in November 2023.
If you are successful, we will send details of how to register to the conference shortly after.
Further information on the conference theme, registration fees and conference location will be available here in due course: https://www.psa.ac.uk/events/psa-annual-conference-0
Please feel free to forward this invitation.
